Position Overview:

As the Director of Marketing at AReL, you will have the unique opportunity to establish the marketing function from the ground up. With a strong emphasis on social outreach and stakeholder engagement, you will lead marketing initiatives that amplify our work. The role will be a pivotal figure in shaping and executing our organization's marketing strategies. We are searching for a highly experienced and proactive individual with exceptional communication skills and a talent for persuasion. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate a strong ability to work cross-functionally across teams within the organization, fostering collaboration and alignment to achieve shared marketing goals.

As a visionary leader in the field of marketing, the Director will guide the organization in developing and refining its marketing function and practices. We expect the Director to have exceptional analytical skills and make data-driven decisions that inform our marketing endeavors. This role extends beyond managing our existing marketing efforts to identifying new opportunities, leading campaigns, and establishing a long-lasting brand presence. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping our marketing strategy and ensuring it aligns seamlessly with our mission and values.

The right candidate will possess a remarkable history of leadership, as they will be entrusted with playing a central role in building and leading a highly functional Marketing team as we expand our reach and impact. 

*Note: The Director of Marketing will be expected to directly contribute to the creation of marketing materials, including but not limited to social posts, asset creation, presentations and slides, blogs, video edits, and more during the initial phase of their role. However, the long-term goal is for the Director to build and lead a team that will ultimately manage and enhance such production, allowing for a more strategic focus on leadership and strategy development.

The ideal candidate is either...

  1. Someone capable of building out our department from the ground up with an option to exit (or stay on in an Advisory role) once a highly functioning operation and team is installed.
  2. Someone capable of building out our department from the ground up and willing to start with limited allocation and transition into a full-time role.


Commitment and Compensation: 

This role starts as a volunteer position with a time commitment between 6-8 hours a week, with plans for transitioning into a full-time role with a competitive salary and compensation package within 12-18 months (ideally sooner). The role can be remote, providing flexibility to accommodate the volunteer's schedule.

 


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Social Marketing:

  • Design and implement comprehensive social marketing strategies, amplifying AReL's mission and services.
  • Utilize social media to enhance visibility and drive engagement, particularly on professional platforms like LinkedIn.

Brand and Communications:

  • Manage brand image and positioning in the market.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials, both print and digital.

Digital Campaign Management:

  • Lead digital campaigns to drive program registrations (locally), spotlighting success stories and program outcomes (globally).
  • Analyze the performance of all marketing campaigns and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain editorial calendars across all marketing channels (social, newsletter, blog, etc.).

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with potential strategic partners through social platforms, building relationships that resonate with AReL's mission.
  • Manage contacts, lists, segments, etc. from marketing campaigns within our CRM.

Build and Lead the Marketing Team:

  • Take charge of building out AReL's marketing function and growing the team.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the emerging marketing team, ensuring alignment with AReL's goals.

Reporting:

  • Regularly report on the performance of our marketing efforts, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Asset Management And Creation:

  • Assist with creating presentations, slides, or other assets needed across the organization.
  • Maintain a well-organized repository of marketing assets per the organization's guidelines. 

Stay Updated:

  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in social marketing, adjusting strategies to ensure effectiveness.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Attend regular scheduled meetings.
  • Lead Marketing meetings.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to ensure alignment across all marketing initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years in marketing roles, with a demonstrated history of leading successful campaigns, team management, and strategy development.
  • Proficiency in Data Storytelling: A keen ability to translate complex data into coherent stories. Crafting narratives that resonate with both internal teams and external stakeholders, making analytics accessible and actionable.
  • Exceptional Social Media Competencies: Expertise in curating, publishing, and optimizing content across multiple social platforms, with an emphasis on professional platforms like LinkedIn. Demonstrated success in driving engagement, growing follower bases, and understanding platform-specific nuances and strategies.
  • Excellent Organic Marketing Skills: In-depth knowledge of organic marketing, with an emphasis on SEO, content marketing, and community building. Demonstrated success in driving organic growth, increasing site traffic, and enhancing brand visibility without relying on paid strategies.
  • Solid Paid Advertising Knowledge (bonus): Familiarity with a variety of paid advertising platforms, including Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, and LinkedIn Advertising.
  • The ability to craft compelling ad copy, optimize for conversions, and efficiently manage ad budgets.
  • Experience crafting, scheduling, and publishing effective newsletter campaigns.
  • Solid proficiency working within CRM systems.
